Our weekly PE sessions will take place on a Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon. A full PE kit must be worn, which includes:
a t-shirt
shorts in summer, jogging bottoms in winter
a jumper
waterproof jacket
suitable trainers
Children must have appropriate clothing and footwear for all weather as some PE sessions will need to be taught outside. Children with their ears pierced must remove their earrings for each P.E session themselves or alternatively they will need at have plasters in their P.E bags to protect their ears during physical activity. Long hair must be tied back and all jewellery and watches removed. Please send your child into school wearing their PE kits on PE days.
Our Year 5s will also attend swimming sessions – starting April 2024. Swimming will replace one of our in school PE sessions, meaning that children will only need their PE kit, once a week.
Children are expected to read at least three times at home with an adult. Each read should be logged in the reading diary, and brought in to school everyday. Reads will be counted every Wednesday and only one home read per day will count towards the reading racetrack.
Awards:
Bronze: 50 reads
Silver: 100 reads
Gold: 200 reads
Governors’ Award: 250 reads
Homework will be shared on a Friday and should be completed by Wednesday the following week. If your child is finding their homework tricky, please let us know via a message on Dojo as soon as possible and we can find a time to support them in school with this, before it is due to be handed in.
It is important that children are fluent in their times tables as it is an essential skill to support with many areas of Math learning.
By the end of Year 2, most children are expected to know the 2x, 5x and 10x tables.
By the end of Year 3, most children are expected to know the 3x, 4x and 8x tables.
By the end of Year 4, most children are expected to know the 6x, 7x, 9x, 11x and 12x tables.
In Year 5, it is imperative that children are confident with all times tables facts. See online learning ideas below for ways children can work on becoming more fluent with their tables facts.
